Guide to my Favorite Calligraphy Resources
There are so many calligraphy resources available and I love that there’s such a large variety available! Especially since people learn in many different ways and everyone has their own favorite supplies that works best for them. Over time I’ve collected my own favorite calligraphy resources and wanted to share the ones that I continually go back to.
Learn & Practice
I’ve used various calligraphy resources for practicing my calligraphy from guide sheets to video tutorials. However my favorites are the guides from The Postman’s Knock. She has a variety of resources from free drill sheets to paid worksheets in so many fun styles. My favorite styles from her are Kaitlin and Beth! If you want a fun way to practice (and free) then try out these calming calligraphy drills they are super unique.
I also have a few calligraphy books that I’ve used to practice and hone my skills over time. These are my absolute favorite ones: Wedding Calligraphy: A Guide to Beautiful Hand Lettering and Nib + Ink: A Modern Calligraphy Sketchbook
Another fun way to learn calligraphy is through video tutorials, I’ve only taken a few of these type of classes so far but one of my favorites is from Brit + Co. I took the calligraphy 201 class but there are a lot of other options on there if you want to have some more fun check them out!
Supplies
I’ve done a post about beginner supplies so you can see all the details here. But as a quick recap here are my favorite supplies that I use all the time: Speedball pen holder, Brause Steno No. 361, LH Calligraphy’s ink, and this smooth laser printer paper.
Besides Amazon I find most of my supplies from Paper & Ink Arts. They have a great variety of inks, nibs, pens, containers, & more! Plus they have a fun blog that I like to read up on every once in awhile.
One additional spot I find calligraphy resources is from Laura Hooper Calligraphy. Her website besides being super informative also has a shop with great supplies including amazing inks & great beginner kits.
Instagram Inspiration
These are my favorite calligraphy related accounts that inspire me so much. They share so many fun projects & tips, check them out if you want some more calligraphy inspo in your daily scroll #communityovercompetition
Resources
Besides the fun stuff I’ve already mentioned I’m starting to work on my own calligraphy resources to help you all out with learning calligraphy. If there’s anything specific you’d like to see just leave a comment! I’ll be starting with an envelope calligraphy guide so be on the lookout for that in my newsletter!
